MORE ABOUT COACHING PSYCHOLOGIST MEGAN

I received my M.SC. in Psychology from The University of East London with a focus in childhood social dynamics. I went on to train at the University of Oxford, where I obtained my P.G. Cert. in Psychodynamic Studies. I then qualified as a Simplicity Parenting Couch. I have attended CTI Fundamentals and work within the Co-Active model. I am constantly fine tuning my practice- life is about continual development. I have two happy, free-spirited young children, a great partner and a lovely, but lazy dog. I can’t wait to meet you!

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM COACHING AND MY COACH?

Think of coaching psychology, or life coaching as leaning in to some one to test your own balance on a feeling, thought or emotion. You can feel safe to explore the uncomfortable or unknown because someone is there as your scaffolding. You grow, you need less and less of it as you begin stand on your own foundations. Coaching is not about getting advice or a solution but realising you already have all the tools you need; it is just a matter of finding them and learning how to use them. Coaching is not therapy. Coaching is mostly present and sometimes future focussed. You are here to be championed, challenged, and cared for, and though you will have full support, you are doing the self-discovery.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS WHEN WORKING WITH A LIFE COACH?

The first step is a free 10 minute call to get a quick feel for the situation, each other and to ensure that this is right for the client and coach. If the decision that coaching is right for us as a team, we will have a discovery session. This is a longer session (2 hours). Here we dive into the current situation as you see it, goals, questions, thoughts, roadblocks and dreams. We design an alliance and make agreements on what coaching style will help you the most. Every step is tailored to you and your needs. We will discuss logistics, for example if you would like to be seen in person or via Skype/Facetime. We will determine how frequently you want to be coached. We will discuss that the coaching space is completely CONFIDENTIAL. We will make agreements and honour this space as a curious, playful path to discovering the best version of yourself.

Once we have designed our alliance, we will meet/speak usually 1-2 times per month for 1.5 hours. They say the coaching happens outside of the appointment and this is true. You will learn skills and practice these between sessions. You are welcome to email me on wins and marvellous mistakes between sessions. You are growing and I want you to know I am here the whole way. You may have homework and we may set goals and I will ask permission to hold you accountable but do not worry, I will support you to achieve. Remember that it is easy to stay where you are, but not always the best place for you. Let’s explore.

DO YOU HAVE A LONG WAITING LIST TO SEE A LIFE COACH?

We are usually able to arrange an initial assessment within two weeks.

WILL MY SESSION BE CONFIDENTIAL WITH MY COACH?

Confidentiality is important to us. We only break confidentiality if we are concerned about somebody's safety and where possible, we will always try to discuss any times we may need to break confidentiality with you first. If the session is via Skype or other video platform, we ask that you ensure you are in a private place. Whilst Skype is fairly secure, we also cannot assume responsibility for any breaches of personal information which may occur over Skype.

We often write paper session notes. These are then kept in a secure, locked location. We rarely record Skype or other video platform sessions. If we were considering doing this, we would discuss with you beforehand and only with your consent. At Psychology Oxford, we are dedicated to protecting your personal information. We are fully compliant with the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requirements, and we are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). You can read our full privacy statement here.

HOW LONG DO APPOINTMENTS LAST?

Typically, our assessments last 1.5 hours minutes and our sessions run for 50 minutes. I am happy to be contacted via email between sessions to celebrate successes and fails. We kindly ask that you please arrive promptly. However, as there is no waiting area, we ask that you do not arrive early.

CAN MY COACH WORK VIA VIDEO CALLS? (HOW DO I SET UP SKYPE, FACETIME OR WHATSAPP VIDEO?)

It is really easy to have online coaching via Skype, FaceTime or WhatsApp Video. We are happy to walk you through this. Some people prefer this, as they can be in the comfort of their home and hours are more flexible.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I WANT TO END SESSIONS WITH MY COACH?

We usually mutually agree on when coaching should end, and our final session focuses on retaining all the tools you have developed during the coaching practice. My hope is that you will end your coaching feeling like you have the resilience, strength and confidence you need to overcome your obstacles. However, if you decide you don’t want to continue with more coaching sessions for any reason, I will always be happy to support you.

The best version of you awaits. Contact us today.
